BEHIND THE LENS

AboutMe

Enrico D'Erasmo, wildlife photographer

Hi, I'm Enrico.

I grew up in a small village in the heart of Italy, surrounded by green hills, with a river just a short walk from home, the mountains on one side and the sea on the other. A place where nature has always been part of everyday life, where birdsong drifts through the window in the morning...

From an early age, I had a deep passion for animals, an almost instinctive attraction that drove me to observe them, discover their secrets, and learn more about their lives and behaviour.

I spent hours watching wildlife documentaries. I was fascinated by them and dreamed that one day I would be the one capturing those incredible scenes, experiencing those close encounters, and witnessing such rare and special moments. I dreamed of having the privilege of stepping, even for an instant, into their world.

As the years passed, that passion led me towards wildlife photography. Today, whenever I head out with my camera, I feel that same excitement. It is the spark that drives me to explore, to wait, to observe, and to let myself be surprised by everything nature has to offer.

But photography, to me, is about more than simply taking a picture. It is a way to tell the stories of animals, to show the world from their perspective, and to share moments that many people might otherwise never have the opportunity to experience.

In a world where technology and the fast pace of everyday life are taking people further and further away from nature, I hope my photographs can become a bridge between people and the wonderful world out there. I want to awaken in those who look at them a sense of wonder and curiosity — feelings that can naturally teach us to respect, preserve, and care for all the magic that humanity is slowly forgetting is right there around us.
